[dropcap]The[/dropcap] bedrock of Zapoteca culture is rapidly disappearing and with it, so to are its traditions and history. Porfirio Gutierrez, a traditional Zapoteca weaver, believes his culture is on the verge of losing the ancient art of weaving forever due to both cultural and social isolation of the Zapoteca. Porfirio’s hands tell the story of his people and their traditional art form; his artistic sensibilities inherited from ancestors who lived in the ancient Zapotec cities.

As part of FLINT TV, “Expressions of Life” tells the stories and captures the very essence of who we are, highlighting the distinctiveness and character of each individual. A journey told through short films.
