Yet in many ways the hardest battles are those of healing the scars of war. Engin Güneysu of Agence Le Journal has focused his lens on the people still recovering from a battle fought decades ago.

[dropcap]Duje[/dropcap] is a rehabilitation centre located in the city of Doboj, Sarajevo. Citizens who need help are rehabilitated here, ranging from war victims and the destitute to homeless and the disabled people. What is left behind after the Bosnian War (1992-1996) is more than a demolished city which witnessed savage brutality.

After the war, many foundations such as Italian-based Emmaus Foundation and the  Turkish Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief (IHH) gathered with the aim of recovery of the war and the rehabilitation centre, Duje, was built. Today, 400 patients are treated in the centre.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]4[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column][vc_column_text]14
